Do I Need To Pay A Security Deposit For Booking My Accommodation?

The deposit is a standard security fee that has to be paid when booking your accommodation. By law, security deposits are not allowed to be used for (outstanding)rent payments. The security deposit is solely used for the end calculations of utilies after the end of your contract date. It is against the law to use the security deposit to pay for any outstanding invoices regarding repairs for damages, and/ or replacing furniture due to wear and tear during your stay.

The deposit equals to twice the flat rate rent for both independent accommodations (whole apartments or houses) and dependent accommodations (rooms). The flat rate is not the advertised price, but always less than the advertised price. The deposit will be refunded within two weeks after the contract end date if everything is in order with the accommodation, keys are returned, i/a deregistration evidence has been provided and other contractual obligations have been met.
